The
Padma is one of the biggest rivers in Bangladesh. It has separated the south
area of the country from the capital city Dhaka. Because of the absence of
bridge in Padma, the communication system of the districts located in south
part of Bangladesh with the largest city of the country, the capital Dhaka, was
not so smooth.
So, the economic development was also decelerated of those areas. And therefore, a Bridge on Padma was the cherished dream for the development of those areas as well as the whole country.

After
a long waiting, finally the dream of Padma Bridge is going to come out in real.
The process of building the bridge was inaugurated in December, 2015 and it is
expected that the project will be completed within December 2018. The
Bangladeshi people should be proud that the bridge is being built with the
country’s own fund, without the help of other countries or organization.

The
Bridge will be 6.15 km long. There will be totally 42 pillars and 41 spans of
the Bridge. At 2014 the probably total cost for the bridge was estimated 20
thousand cores Bangladeshi Taka. But, now it now it is thought that about 28 cores
Bangladeshi Taka will be spent for completing the full project. Still now about
50% of the full project has been completed.
This
bridge will contribute so much in the financial development of whole
Bangladesh. The communication system with the south area of the country with
the rest will be easier and so new mills, factories will be established in the
south part of Bangladesh, which will contribute in reducing unemployment
problem and increase GPD. The second biggest sea port of the country, the
Mongla sea port, will be able to be used properly after completing the building
of this Bridge. Thus, the economy of Bangladesh will be developed faster than
now and the country will go ahead to actualize the dream of being developed
country.
